Dr. Harpal Mann

VETERINARIAN, BVSc. MVSc.

Dr. Mann chose this profession because he has always had a soft side for animals, and wanted to be able to do as much as possible to help and care for them. In his words “animals give us so much, we are obliged to return to them, at least a part of it”. Dr. Mann’s compassion and care for animals is what has earned him his reputation and trust in the community. Dr. Mann has been practicing Veterinary Medicine for 34 years. Dr. Mann graduated with a B.V.Sc and A.H. degree in 1987 from Punjab Agricultural University. He went on to pursue his Masters degree specializing in veterinary internal medicine. Dr. Mann started off his career working as a mixed large & small animal veterinarian and realized that he had a particular interest in small animal internal medicine and physiotherapy. Dr. Mann moved to Canada with his family in the year 2000 and quickly completed the rigorous veterinary examination process to obtain his license to practice veterinary medicine in Canada and the United States. He passed his Clinical Proficiency Examination at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon. Subsequently, he was awarded his Certificate of Qualification by the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association. Owing to his interest in physiotherapy, Dr. Mann went on to complete his certification “CCRP – Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner” and is now seeing patients for rehabilitation therapy as well.

Dr. Mann established Menzies Pet Hospital in 2004 and has been serving the community of Chilliwack since then. His mission is to always prioritize the well-being of his patients and show compassion for his clients. Outside of work, Dr. Mann enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He loves to travel whenever he can, and has an interest in physical fitness activities. Among his favourite activities are playing volleyball and hiking. Dr. Mann loves coming home to his beloved westie, Romeo who he adopted in 2006 and is the most spoiled member of his family.

Dr. Mann is proud to provide discounted and pro-bono services to a variety of rescue societies and stray, homeless or abandoned animals. He travels to under-privileged countries for volunteer work, where he can donate his time and skills for the advancement of animal welfare. Dr. Mann also loves mentoring new graduate veterinarians as well as veterinary technicians, and his door is always open for anyone willing to learn and serve for the cause of animal welfare.

Ana

VETERINARY TECHNICIAN

Hello, I am Ana! Since an early age, I have been very empathetic to animals. I have a veterinary degree and M.Sc. from the University of Antioquia and have worked in animal research since 2005. My research included topics such as the incidence of Brucella canis in puppy mills, bovine in-vitro fertilization, sustainable dairy production, and integrated parasite management. I also spent 3 years teaching at my home university in Colombia. In 2016, I moved to Agassiz B.C. to work on research at the UBC Dairy Research and Education Center. I began working at Menzies Pet Hospital in 2019 and I am currently working towards my veterinary board exams in Canada. When taking care of my patients, my approach is compassionate and evidence based. Outside of work, I am a proud mom of a lovely boy named Isaac and two adorable cats, Puss and Boots. I enjoy spending time with my family, walks during the sunset, the stunning views of the valley, experimenting with plant-based recipes, and the wonder of science.

Casey

Hello, I am Casey! For as long as I can remember, I have always loved animals. I have volunteered at animal shelters and non-profit organizations such as O.W.L Orphaned Wildlife and Greyhaven. I am finishing up my Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Biology and will eventually be applying to veterinary school. One day, I would love to start a non-profit organization to help stray and injured animals. In my free time, I love to play sports such as ringette and softball. I also love to spend time with my dogs Finnegan and Deanna. I am also a proud parent to multiple fish and 2 mice!

Sarah

VETERINARY ASSISTANT

Hello, I am Sarah! Animals have been my passion my entire life and I’ve always known that I had to help them in some way. Growing up, I would always rescue any abandoned or wounded creatures I came across, which lead me to wanting a career working with animals. I completed the Veterinary Administrative Assistant program in 2016 and have worked at Menzies Pet Hospital ever since then. When I’m not at work, I like to be outdoors or cozy at home in my pajamas, relaxing with my boyfriend and my two cats, or spending time with my parents and all of their many pets.

Teresa

RECEPTIONIST

Hello, I am Teresa! I was born and raised in Chilliwack BC and I have always had many pets from horses to hamsters. I have always had a weakness of adopting animals, especially the ones that were waiting too long for a family, such as my chihuahuas. What I love most about my job is being able to help animals and seeing them go home happy and healthy. I love when I get to see the smiles on pet parents’ faces when they get their pet back. It is the best feeling in the world. My favorite thing about Menzies is the great staff and the amazing patients we get to take care of and help heal.

Sandra

RECEPTIONIST

Hello, I am Sandra! Growing up, I always felt that I would love working in a veterinary office, and it turned out to be so true! Being a part of the team here gives me the opportunity to learn while working with others who share my passion for pets and the care they require. Dedication to pets is key, considering my family currently includes two Green Cheek Conures – birds with a life expectations of up to 30+ years.
